Birthright citizenship, seen for more than a century as a bedrock American right, has become a hot-button immigration issue. In this panel discussion, we bring together historians, scholars and journalists to discuss how and why birthright citizenship has evolved, from Reconstruction to immigration policy today. Together, we'll  explore its impact on the lives of American families over time.
