One was born on 268 Stanton Street on the Lower East Side. The other, a little town in Poland. Together, they opened the greatest handbag store in New York City!
Murray Klein, who grew up in this area, and Julius Fine, who came to America in the 1930's, met when they were both looking to open a store on Orchard Street. In 1945, they joined forces to start a business that has been written about the world over. Heralded by virtually every insider's guide to New York, from Fodor's to Lonely Planet, Fine & Klein receive orders from Beverly Hills, Dallas, Chicago, London and Paris.
So, when you drop by, say hello to Mr. Fine or Mr. Klein. After all, the best part about having a successful store is meeting customers from all over. Says Mr. Klein, "I love to meet people from all over the world. Keeps me young!"
